Discover Tanzania through wildlife, culture, landscapes and tropical relaxation on this unforgettable 12 Day Tanzania Safari with Tansania Toll Safaris. Carefully designed for travellers who want to experience much more than traditional game drives, this journey connects intimate wildlife encounters, authentic cultural experiences, the legendary Serengeti, the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater and the crystal clear waters of Chemka Hot Springs.
Your adventure begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, the main international gateway to Tanzania’s famous Northern Safari Circuit. After receiving a warm Tanzanian welcome, you travel to Arusha, the country’s celebrated safari capital and the home of Tansania Toll Safaris.
Your first experience takes you to Serval Wildlife, where you can enjoy a closer introduction to some of Tanzania’s wildlife in a controlled environment surrounded by beautiful views of northern Tanzania. It provides a relaxed beginning before you venture into the country’s vast national parks.
The journey then enters Tarangire National Park, an extraordinary protected wilderness covering approximately 2,850 square kilometres. Tarangire is a land of giant baobab trees, sweeping savannah, seasonal wetlands and the life giving Tarangire River. The park is particularly famous for elephants, while giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, antelopes, lions and other wildlife complete the classic African scenery.
Your safari then moves from wildlife to culture at Mto wa Mbu, a colourful community situated beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Here, you leave the safari vehicle behind and experience another side of Tanzania through village walks, local markets, farms, traditional industries, crafts and Tanzanian food.
The cultural journey continues at Lake Eyasi, where the dramatic Rift Valley landscape is home to the Hadzabe community. Through a respectfully guided cultural experience, you can learn about traditional hunting and gathering practices, indigenous knowledge and a lifestyle deeply connected to the surrounding environment. Depending on your program, you may also meet the Datoga community, known for pastoral traditions and traditional metalworking.
From Lake Eyasi, the adventure enters one of the world’s greatest wildlife destinations, Serengeti National Park. Covering approximately 14,763 square kilometres, the Serengeti is a seemingly endless wilderness of grasslands, rocky kopjes, river valleys and acacia woodland.
You first explore Central Serengeti, particularly the wildlife rich Seronera region, renowned for excellent year round opportunities to encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras and wildebeest.
The journey then continues toward Northern Serengeti, where the landscapes become quieter and more remote. During the appropriate months, this region becomes one of the most exciting locations for witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration, as immense herds move toward and around the Mara River. River crossings are entirely natural events and cannot be guaranteed, but spending a full day in Northern Serengeti gives you valuable time to follow seasonal wildlife movements.
After exploring the north, you return through Central Serengeti before continuing to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you descend into the famous Ngorongoro Crater, an immense volcanic caldera where grasslands, wetlands and woodland support an exceptional concentration of African wildlife.
Your final full day brings a refreshing change of pace at Chemka Hot Springs, also known as Kikuletwa Hot Springs. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the clear turquoise pools offer the perfect place to swim and relax after days of safari adventure.
On Day 12, you can fly home carrying memories of Tanzania’s wildlife and people, or allow your journey to continue with an optional Zanzibar beach extension. White sand, turquoise Indian Ocean waters, Stone Town, spice farms and tropical island experiences can transform your safari into an even more complete Tanzania holiday.
